Hackney Windrush

Hackney’s ongoing commitment to the Windrush Generations. From information on our annual festival to year-round access to resources and support, it’s all here on Hackney Windrush.

Hackney Council hosts the annual Windrush Generations Festival every June. This month-long festival commemorates the arrival of passengers from Caribbean and Commonwealth countries at Tilbury Docks on the HMT Empire Windrush, and the many who followed them to the UK between 1948 and 1973 to address labour shortages. Events are delivered by the community and funded via the Council’s Windrush microgrant scheme.

Explore highlights, images, and resources from past Windrush festivals.

Check back here in the new year for information on how to get involved or to apply for a Windrush festival microgrant.
